closure I
My Lord,
I have the honour to forward for Your
Lordship's consideration the enclosed copy of correspondence
with the Vice-Ammiral regarding the provision of a high powered Wireless Telegraph Station in Hongkong for commercia
purposes.
2.
The former correspondence on the subject
ended with Viscount Harcourt's telegram of the 15th. May,
1914, and it was thought that the Naval Station which was subsequently erected on Stonecutters Island would be avail-
-able on the termination of the war for the use of the
community generally. It now appears from the Vice-Admirala letter that such use will at best be of a very restricted
nature.
3.
I concur with the opinion expressed by
the Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council that an up-
-to-date high powered station is urgently required for commercial work, and I shall be glad if expert advice upon the subject may be obtained at as early a date as possible. I forward, for what it is worth, a copy of a letter from a local engineer in which a novel suggestion is made.
RIGHT HONOURABLE
VISCOUNT TINER, G.C.B.,
&c...
&c..
I have the honour to ba, My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
Adasteven
Officer Administering the Government.
